Advisor Registration Day Guide

 

How to Register

1.     After the student has planned their courses, they will go to “Academics” then “Register for Classes”.

2.     Students can either select the “Register” button to individually add a course. Or the “Register Now” button to add all planned courses at once.

3.     A student’s registration is complete once the course appears in green and has registered listed underneath it.

Common Registration Issues

Register Button Not Appearing

Solution: Make sure an active course section is selected, if not click the view other sections drop down. Select an open section, then a register button will appear.

 

Courses that Require a Lab

Error Message: “CHM-211-03 - The following required requisite for course CHM-211 is not started. Take CHM-211L Courses may be taken concurrently or previously.”

Solution: Click the “Register Now” button to add both the lecture and lab at the same time.

Math and Spanish Courses

 

Self-Service does not recognize placement test scores. The students will get this error message “MTH 151-40- Take MTH-132 or equivalent - Must be completed prior to taking this course.”

Solution: Submit New Student A&R Day Request.

 

Pre-Req Not Met

They will get an error message like this: “BUS 340-01- Take BUS-261, MTH-345, ECO-210, ECO-211 and MTH-126 or MTH 151 - Must be completed prior to taking this course.”

Solution: If you see that the pre-req is met from transfer work or test scores, submit the New Student A&R Day Request. In the Special Notes section, indicate that you saw evidence of the pre-req being met.

Otherwise, contact the department chair or school dean (business & education only) via email for approval to enroll. Submit New Student A&R Day Request with the approval in the Special Notes section.

Closed Courses

Error Message: “This section is full”

How to Submit New Student A&R Day Request

1.     Sign in to myElmhurst Portal.

2.     Go to Submit a Request.

3.     Select Registration and Records.

4.     Then select New Student A&R Day Request

5.     Fill out the information requested on the form and click submit.

6.     Once you submit a service request ticket, an email will be sent to you by Elmhurst University Service Desk stating a ticket has been created.

 

 

Viewing a Created New Student A&R Day Request

1.     Sign in to myElmhurst Portal.

2.     Go to the Home page.

3.     Scroll down to "View my Requests"

4.     Click on the request you would like to view.

OR

1.     Open the email with the ticket that was created.

2.     Click view or update ticket.

3.     Then view your request.

Replying to New Student A&R Day Request

1.     Follow the steps above to view your request.

2.     On the request, look for the comment button and click on it.

3.     Then you can type your message and click save when finished.

4.     Once you click save, your comment is sent to everyone on the ticket request.

1.     If you would only like to send your comment to a certain person on the ticket, follow these steps:

1.     Prior to saving, click on the notify section.

2.     Select who you would like to notify.

3.     Then hit save.
